Do not challenge a Lamborghini Huracán Evo to a race. You will lose! For 2020, Lambo cranked up its entry-level supercar to match the power of its Performante model. Boasting 631 ponies at 8000 rpm, the Evo's V-10 makes 29 horsepower more than last year's all-wheel-drive Huracán. With its new tweaked all-wheel-drive system, the Huracán Evo hits 60 in 2.5 seconds. Then it really starts pulling away from the rear-drive Chevy, needing only 5.7 seconds to reach 100 mph—1.5 seconds quicker than the Corvette—and covering the quarter-mile in 10.4 seconds at 135 mph. By 150 mph, the gap is nearly six seconds in the Huracán's favor. The Evo's 5.2-liter V-10 revs to 8500 rpm so quickly that it's difficult to keep up with the gearchanges when using the paddle shifters. Without the muffling effect of turbocharging, it's loud. Toyota, Lexus recall another 1.3 million cars over Takata airbags.-21-Jan-2019
Toyota is the latest automaker to expand a recall of cars fitted with potentially defective Takata airbags. Toyota said the recall encompasses 1.3 million vehicles in the US alone, and Automotive News reports that the recall counts a total of 1.7 million cars globally. As has been the case with many of the highly publicized Takata recalls, the propellant in the front-passenger airbag of certain Toyota and Lexus models can degrade over time. If it does, the airbag could rupture and spray metal shards when it deploys, potentially injuring or killing passengers. From Toyota, this new recall covers the 2010-2016 4Runner, 2010-2013 Corolla, 2010-2013 Matrix, 2011-2014 Sienna and the 2010-2015 Scion xB. New electric car company Faraday Future has revealed its first model, which it claims will be the fastest accelerating EV in the world and comes with autonomous features. Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, the FF91 has a claimed 0-60mph figure of 2.39 seconds. Power comes from a 1,050bhp electric motor that delivers 1,800Nm of torque, with power fed from a 130kWh battery. The FF91 also comes with a claimed range of more than 378 miles, giving it almost twice as much range as the average Tesla Model S if accurate. It is currently powered by conventional wired charging, but will have the capability to be charged wirelessly in the future. Toyota recalls 744,000 Siennas 2011-2016 for sliding door malfunction. Toyota Motor North America is recalling about 744,000 Toyota Sienna minivans in the U.S. because a defect can cause the sliding doors to open while the vehicle is in motion. The recall covers minivans from the 2011-16 model years, the automaker said in a statement released yesterday. Toyota said that “under certain limited conditions” when the sliding door is “impeded,” a motor fuse could be opened due to an overloaded circuit. “If this occurs when the door latch is in an unlatched position, the door could open while driving, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant,” Toyota said. The luxury automotive brand, a division of German automaker Daimler, revealed a premium pickup truck dubbed the X-Class. The company on today showed off a concept version of the mid-size pickup truck at an event in Stockholm, saying the five-seat ride will hit showrooms in late 2017. But there's a catch. It's not initially targeted at the U.S. market, where customers are fiercely loyal to pickups offered by General Motors, Ford, Fiat Chrysler, Toyota, Nissan and Honda.
