His Holiness Pope Francis will wash the feet of 12 young disabled residents in a rehabilitation center for developmentally -disabled people. The center called the Don Carlo Gnocchi Foundation is situated in the north-west suburbs of Rome. The Foundation offers cutting-edge therapies like motor rehabilitation to patients suffering neurodegenerative diseases.
On Holy Thursday, at 5.30 pm, Pope Francis will celebrate the “In Coena Domini Mass" (meaning 'at the table of Lord', referring to the feast of the Lord's Supper) at the St Mary of Providence chapel of the Don Gnocchi Foundation. The Holy Mass will be attended by a limited group of people that includes residents, along with their families and staff of the Foundation.
Last year the Pope visited the Casal del Marmo juvenile detention centre where he washed the feet of twelve young offenders, including a Muslim woman.
