നമുക്ക് സമീപമുള്ളവരും പ്രിയപ്പെട്ടവരുമായ ഒരാളെ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ മാത്രമേ പലപ്പോഴും ആ വ്യക്തിയുടെ പ്രഭാവം നാം മനസിലാക്കുന്നുള്ളു. നിങ്ങളില്‍ പലരേയും പോലെ, ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ആ വേദന അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നു. സോണിയച്ചന്‍ ഈ ലോകം വിട്ടുപോയെങ്കിലും, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഓര്‍മ്മകള്‍, അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം ഉള്ള
നമ്മുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മകള്‍ തുടര്‍ന്നും അണയാതെ പ്രകാശിക്കും. ഇതിലൂടെ, അച്ചന് വേണ്ടി പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കാനും നമുക്ക് കഴിയട്ടെ. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുന്‍ ഇടവകക്കാര്‍ എന്ന നിലയില്‍, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളോടും മറ്റു കുടുംങ്ങങ്ങോളോടും കൂടെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ ദുഃഖം പങ്കു വയ്ക്കുന്നു.

നമ്മുടെ ഇടവകയുടെ വികാരിയായി ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ സോണിയച്ചന് ഒരു പ്രയാസകരമായ ദൗത്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അഭിപ്രായ വ്യത്യാസത്യമുള്ളവരെ ഒരുമിച്ചു നിര്‍ത്തി വീണ്ടും ഒരു ദൈവജനമായും ഐക്യപ്പെടുത്താനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. അസാധ്യമെന്നു തോന്നുന്ന ഒരു കാര്യമായിരുന്നു എങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹം അതില്‍ അശ്രാന്തമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു, പലപ്പോഴും തിരശ്ശീലയ്ക്കു പിന്നില്‍, "എല്ലാം ദൈവത്തിനു സാധ്യമാണ്" എന്ന തന്റെ വിശ്വാസം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിയിലൂടെ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്, വാസ്തവത്തില്‍, അച്ഛന്‍ നമുക്കെല്ലാം ഒരു ജീവിത പാഠം കാണിച്ചു തന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാര്യവിചാരകത്വം കാരണം, നമ്മള്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ വീണ്ടും ശാന്തിയും ഐക്യവും ഉള്ള ഒരു ഇടവക സമൂഹമാണ്. സോണിയച്ചന്‍ ഈ ഒരു കാര്യത്തിന് അങ്ങയോട് ഞങ്ങള്‍ എന്നും നന്ദിയുള്ളവരാണ്. അച്ചന്‍ എപ്പോഴും എല്ലാ ശ്രമങ്ങളും ഒരു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനയോടെ ആരംഭിച്ചു.

ആളുകളെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടാനും സ്‌നേഹത്തോടെ ഇടപഴകാനും ഉള്ള സോണിയച്ചന്റെ കഴിവ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ഒരു പ്രത്യേക വരദാനം ആയിരുന്നു. ഇടവകയ്ക്ക് വിപുലീകരിക്കാനും ഒരു മിഷന്‍ രൂപീകരിക്കാനുമുള്ള സമയം ആയെന്നു കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍, പ്രാര്‍ഥനാപൂര്‍വ്വം ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുകയും അത് യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യമാകുന്നതുവരെ ആ ശ്രമം നയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

സമര്‍പ്പിതനും നിഷ്കളങ്കനുമായ ഈ വന്ദ്യ പുരോഹിതന്റെ നിര്യാണത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ച സംഭവങ്ങളുടെ ശൃംഖല ഏതാണ്? കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം വിശുദ്ധ നാട്ടിലൂടെ നമ്മെ നയിച്ച ഒരു പുരോഹിതന്‍, എത്രമാത്രം ക്ഷീണത്തിലാണെങ്കിലും

തന്റെ ജനത്തിനായി ദിവസേന വിശുദ്ധ കുര്‍ബാന ചൊല്ലിയിരുന്നു. അതിനു ശേഷം, പിറ്റേന്ന് ബസ്സില്‍ കയറിയ ആദ്യത്തെ വ്യക്തി അദ്ദേഹമായിരിക്കും, എല്ലാവരേയും മനോഹരമായ പുഞ്ചിരിയോടെയും കൈകൊണ്ടും അഭിവാദ്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു. അച്ചാ,അങ്ങ് ഞങ്ങളെ നയിച്ച നിമിഷങ്ങള്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ അമൂല്യമായി കരുതുന്നു.

കനത്ത ഹൃദയങ്ങളോടും കണ്ണുനീരോടും കൂടി, ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയനെ നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടുവെന്ന വസ്തുത ഞങ്ങള്‍ അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു, തല്‍ക്കാലം,… ഒരു ദിവസം സോണിയച്ചനുമായി വീണ്ടും നിത്യതയില്‍ ഒന്നിക്കുമെന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയോടെ ശാശ്വതമായ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി സോണിയച്ചനെ സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗത്തിലേക്ക് ഉയര്‍ത്തണമെന്ന് ഞങ്ങള്‍ എളിയ പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനകള്‍ അര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്നു.

പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സോണിയച്ചന്‍, അങ്ങേക്ക് നിത്യ വിശ്രാന്തി നേരുന്നു. അങ്ങ് എല്ലായ്‌പ്പോഴും ഞങ്ങളുടെ ചിന്തകളിലും പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനകളിലും തുടരും.

നമുക്കെല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും സോണിയാച്ചനുമായി നമ്മുടെ സ്വന്തം കഥകളും അനുഭവങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്. ദയവായി അവ പങ്കു വെയ്ക്കുക, തദ്വാരാ നമുക്കും ഈ സമൂഹത്തിനു അദ്ദേഹം നല്‍കിയ സംഭാവനകള്‍ ഓര്‍ക്കാനും അംഗീകരിക്കാനും സാധിക്കട്ടെ! .

you, we are also struggling to make sense of the sad and untimely demise of our dear Sonyachen. We may never understand exactly what transpired, however, it has been reported reliably that Sonyachen was distressed emotionally, specifically with regard to injuries
sustained by a few of his parishioners as a result of an accidental fire, and was silently carrying the weight of this burden within his mind.

Perhaps,

it is human nature. Only when we lose someone near and dear to us we are stopped on our tracks and forced to realize that we had taken their love and friendship for granted and that we no longer have that person with us. A sense of void and sadness takes its

place. Like many of you, we are feeling that pain. Although Sonyachan has left this world, his memories, our memories with him, will and should live on. Through this, we can continue to pray for him and honor him and his legacy. As his former parishioners,
we also stand together in grief with his siblings and extended family.

We
all knew that Sonyachan had a tough task on hand when he became the Vicar of our parish. He had to reconcile the animosity, the differences, and lead us, together as one community again and a people of God. That was no small task. Yet he worked tirelessly at it, often behind the scenes, latching on to his faith, prayer and belief that, “All things are possible with God”. In fact, he was living and showing us all a life lesson. Because of his stewardship, we now are again a community at peace. For this, we are eternally grateful to you Sonyachan. As we all have come to experience, he always started all endeavors with a prayer. That invitation of divine intervention eased anxiety and fear. We all have experienced his artful ways of de-escalating situations before
they flared up in poduyogams and church meetings.

During
our interactions with Sonyachen, we always observed him to be thoroughly organized, thoughtful, and meticulous in all things - big or small. He engaged in every single decision and action only after prayer.

What
chain of events led to this dedicated and flawless Ccatholic priest’s demise? As laymen, did we make the mistake of imagining that our clergy is invincible to the pressures of being a human being? A priest who led us through the Holy Land last fall, and made sure that no matter how tired everyone was, ..he would offer Holy Mass daily for his folk within the bounds of constrained facilities thatere were at his disposal. On top of thatAnd, he would still be one of the first persons to board the bus the next day, greeting everyone with a pleasant smile and a steady hand. Sonyacha, we treasure the moments you guided us.

The questions serve to confound us, as well as sadden us in retrospect.

In
the end, the answers do not matter because we accept that Sonyachen was possibly also a human being, capable rarely of falling victim to the pressures of life.

this difficult moment, we turn back in retrospective, and can appreciate the positive impact and legacy Sonyachaen left us with. He stepped in

heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, we accept the fact that we lost sight of our shepherd, for the time being, … and hope to reunite with Sonyachaen one day. Until then, we endeavor to treat our clergy with the respect and love they deserve. And we offer our
humble prayers for Sonyachen to be lifted up to heaven for eternal salvation.

in Peace, dear Sonyachaen. You shall remain in our thoughts and prayers always.
